Daniela Sala

“I Hear Your Silence” began as a documentary photo project by journalist and photographer Daniela Sala, exploring queer and non-binary identities in Lebanon, Jordan and Tunisia.
Between 2018 and 2023, Daniela met and photographed dozens of activists — people who, every day, challenge dominant narratives and reclaim their voices in contexts often marked by silence, stigma and resistance.

Thanks to the collaboration with FADA Collective and the support of many people through a crowdfunding campaign on Produzioni dal Basso, the project has grown into a self-published fanzine — printed in Spring 2025.

The zine brings together portraits, field notes, and texts by Hasan Kilani, a Palestinian-Jordanian queer activist and writer, who reflects on identity, belonging and resistance across borders.

The goal of I Hear Your Silence has always been to create bridges — between the Mediterranean’s shores, between activism and art, between different struggles for freedom and equality.
We want to give space and visibility to activists, create dialogues that cross borders, and build communities of listening and solidarity.
